How it started
The Barcaldine Fitness Centre Inc was established in 1999 thanks to a group of community volunteers and with support of the Barcaldine Regional Council. The volunteers oversee and manage the association, and Barcaldine regional Council donates the building to community.
Barcaldine was fortunate to receive donation of gym equipment from a gym that closed down, and this lead the way to continually obtain high quality, commercial grade equipment.

Updating access from a handful of keys managed by community members to the PIN door lock was a significant step in providing more inclusive access to the community. The PIN door lock means you can access the gym 24/7.
Since 1999 the gym has undergone various improvements and expansions. Walls were removed to provide more space, additional windows installed and custom artworks added. We try to keep up to date with the equipment and trends.
